Marching into the Sun
My short story, THE SUBLET is available now on Kindle, as a part of Amazon’s first reads program. The audio edition will be available on April 1st. It’s already selling so well. If you have a chance to read it and are inclined to favorably review it, I would be most appreciative.
In the meantime, here is what has been keeping me busy.
Book Rec: Colored Television
I loved Danzy Senna’s first novel Caucasia when it came out in 1998, but I hadn’t read her since. Colored Television tells the story of Jane, a wife, mother and writer, struggling to complete her new novel. However, her life seems to be on the upswing when she gets the chance to work on a groundbreaking television comedy. I found this laugh-out-loud funny, even as it tackles challenging topics like race, love, ambition and failure. Fun fact: Senna is married to Percival Everett, the author of one of my favorite books from last year, James.
Audiobook Rec: Dinner for Vampires
Anyone who knows me knows that I love books about summer camps, boarding schools, college life and cults - although I’ve only experienced two of the four. So, even though I had no idea who Bethany Joy Lenz was, nor had I ever watched her hit television show One Tree Hill, when I heard about this memoir on one of my favorite podcasts, Happier In Hollywood (which I have also recommended before!), I immediately downloaded it. I listened to this crazy story in just a few days.
TV Rec: White Lotus
I can’t believe I have never recommended White Lotus before! I loved the first two seasons, I am a few episodes into Season Three and equally smitten. The cast is filled with so many great actors and actresses, including Carrie Coon, Michelle Monaghan, Leslie Bibb, and the hilarious Parker Posey. You don’t need to have watched the previous seasons to jump in, but I would recommend it as there are a few characters who we’ve met before.
Wildcard Rec: Dibs Baked Bronzer Duo in Vanilla Latte
At this time of the year my skin usually looks pretty sallow, but recently I’ve been getting a lot of compliments on my healthy glow. Because I am using all of my usual skincare products, it took me a beat to figure out what I was doing differently. The only addition: this Dibs Bronzer. And it couldn’t be simpler, I just swirl a fluffy makeup brush into the product and dust it over my cheekbones, nose and forehead. It comes in a few shades and I believe I use the lightest.
Wherever you are, I hope you enjoy the rest of winter. And remember to reach out with your recommendations - anything from stories about cults to skincare products that make you radiant! And don’t forget to place your order for THE SUBLET.
Sincerely,
Greer
